Summary
This project included three bridges along I-80 in Tooele County. The following bridges were reconstructed by Granite Construction Company: I-80 eastbound and westbound over Union Pacific Railroad, and SR-36 over I-80 -Tooele interchange at Lakepoint. While working with the design lead Michael Baker, as a subconsultant, Meridian provided survey and right of way design services such as development of the primary control, design grade mapping, SUE mapping, existing right of way determination and right of way design. LiDAR technology was utilized at all bridge structures to develop a full model for UDOT’s 3D Digital Delivery process for the awarded contractor.

A bit of history
The construction for the bridge work began in 2018 beginning with the SR36 over I-80. Load restriction required heavy or wide loads to use the alternate route of SR-201 to 202 to avoid the Union Pacific Railroad reconstruction area.
