Weber State University Noorda Engineering and Technology Building Construction underway!

By Project Progress

With the design phase complete, this 135,000 sf building named after Ray Noorda – “father of computing” and former CEO of Novell – is currently being constructed by Big-D. Slated to be complete in 2022, the building will be the new home for electrical, mechanical and systems engineering, computer science, professional sales departments and engineering technology. Four centers will also be housed in the building: The Concept Center, the Center for Technology Outreach, the National Center for Automotive Science & Technology and the Alan E. Hall Center for Sales Excellence.

Meridian Engineering as part of the architectural engineering design team lead by VCBO Architects worked together to collaborate ADA accessibility, site and utility design, tunnel relocation, plaza and outdoor seating areas, access to various levels of the building, grading on a sloped site with rock and concrete walls for a business-like, tech-friendly, four-story educational facility.

Peruvian Park Elementary breaks ground in Sandy, Utah for a new rebuilt school.

By Project Progress

Now with the school’s design phase complete, Peruvian Park students jumped at the chance to participate in its groundbreaking on March 30, 2021 to mark the start of the construction of their new school. These prideful Panthers joined Canyons District administrators and local elected officials with golden shovels in their hands and commemorative hard hats on their heads to turn that dirt.

Meridian Engineering as part of the architectural engineering design team lead by NJRA Architects worked together to collaborate a beautiful, tech-friendly, two-story educational facility.

Our role began with design grade surveying, boundary analysis, amended subdivision platting. Civil design included site grading and drainage plans for two parking lots, bus and parent drop of zones, and two new play fields.  In addition, Meridian provided site utility design for all new sewer, water, and storm drain connections. With the addition of some new site walls, this school will be much easier to access. The new school will be constructed by Hogan Construction, and is slated to be complete and open by August 2022. Meanwhile, the kids will bus to the Crescent View Building for their schooling during its construction.
