By News and Updates, Project Progress No Comments

Survey crew chiefs at Meridian love a new adventure especially with great views like these! Recently, Meridian’s survey crew retraced PLSS corners, collected boundary evidence, and analyzed Hanksville’s townsite plat of lots and blocks for this project. Meridian’s team combined technical expertise with the opportunity to work in the area’s exceptional natural beauty for the purpose of preparing a record of survey to file with the Wayne County Recorder.

Meridian goes to Grays Lake Wildlife Refuge Idaho

By News and Updates, Project Progress

Meridian’s survey crews recently embarked on an exciting project at the breathtaking Grays Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Bonneville County, Idaho. During initial field visits, our team focused on recovering and verifying boundary corners and monuments including original Public Land Survey System (PLSS) monuments.

The fieldwork provided stunning views and an opportunity to secure unique boundary corners and PLSS monuments. This work plays a vital role in supporting land acquisitions and boundary management for the additional lands secured by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation for wildlife conservation.

East 72 Sunset Gardens in Midvale, Utah now complete!

By Completed Project, News and Updates

This newly developed multi-family housing complex spans 82,628 square feet across three levels and introduces 89 modern units to the Midvale Utah community, with options ranging from one to three bedrooms. Designed to meet the needs of a diverse population, the site includes family-friendly amenities such as a playground, pet areas, and communal gathering spaces.

The project, designed by EJ Architecture and constructed by Kier Construction, replaces an outdated 24-unit single-story complex with a more contemporary and affordable housing option serving a bigger market.

Meridian Engineering provided essential civil site services for the project.  This included drainage, grading, and paving plans, storm drain and utility plans for water and sewer, storm water retention basins, and ADA accessibility. Construction period services were also included in the civil design scope.

Meridian goes to Elk, Wyoming

By News and Updates, Project Progress

Meridian Engineering’s survey teams had the opportunity recently this summer to work at Grand Teton National Park and the scenic landscapes of Elk, Wyoming, where they conducted field investigations for an ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey.

While adhering to Wyoming State Code, the team collected boundary evidence for analysis by our Wyoming PLS, surveyed Public Land Survey System (PLSS) monuments, and collected essential base mapping data for future design purposes. Upon project completion, a signed and stamped copy of the survey will be filed with the Teton County Clerk’s office.

While the team didn’t spot any elk during the survey, they did encounter antelope and buffalo, making for a truly splendid field survey experience in Teton County.

Salt Lake City School District (SLCSD) Administration facilities now complete!

By Completed Project, News and Updates

Meridian Engineering is happy to announce the completion of the new Salt Lake City School District (SLCSD) Administration facilities, located at 406 East and 100 South in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. The project features a 2-story, 60,000 square-foot office building along with a secure two-level below grade parking garage designed to enhance workforce efficiency for over 120 district employees.

These facilities bring together essential district departments—supporting operations like school construction, child nutrition, and transportation—under one roof. With modern meeting spaces and professional development areas, the new design fosters greater collaboration, reducing boundaries between departments. SLCSD, one of the city’s oldest school districts, manages 43 schools and serves over 20,000 students.

A unique feature of the new facility is the inclusion of two outdoor plazas situated on the parking garage roof, providing employees with inviting spaces to recharge and connect during Utah’s pleasant weather days.

Throughout the project, Meridian Engineering worked closely with NJRA Architects to deliver a comprehensive site design. Our scope included topographic surveying, grading for the sloped site, utility design, drainage solutions, vehicle access for the parking garage, fire department access, visitor parking, and pedestrian pathways.  Notably, our scope of work encompassed sewer service line, and extension of existing storm drain culverts and construction period oversight. The final building was brought to completion in collaboration with construction experts at Big D with Meridian providing layout and staking services. An overall team outcome that positions SLCSD to continue its vital role in shaping the future of education.
